Island Peak Climbing with Everest Base Camp is one of the popular peak climbing located at Khumbu region of eastern Nepal high at the altitude of 6189 m and 20307 ft. This is very famed peak climbing suitable for both frequent and novice expeditors. Also known as Imja Tse, it was first ascended by the Swiss team in 1956. This peak was named by the mountaineer - Eric Shipton in 1951. It is categorized as alpine PD+. Climbing this peak is physically hard, however not technically challenging though.

This peak climbing is also one of the interested ones among the trekkers and we Accent Himalaya have arranged the itinerary in such a way that we will be staying in between some places to acclimatize with the altitude. As you summit this peak, you get the splendid views of Mount Everest (8848 m), Mount Lhotse (8500 m), Mount Makalu (8478 m), Mount Nuptse (7880 m), Mount Ama Dablam (6812 m) and Mount Baruntse (7129 m) at the closest view. On the way to the route, we will summit Kalapathar (altitude of 5540 m and 18188 ft) and then we will be heading to Everest Base Camp.

This Island Peak with Everest Base Camp climbing begins from Lukla, heading to Namche Bazar and then from Tengboche to Kalapathar. From here, you get to observe the closest view of the highest peak Mount Everest. Moving towards the Everest Base Camp on the trail - you will be visiting the Sherpa communities at Pangboche, where you get to observe their local culture and the way of living.

We will be also be visiting the Tengboche Tibetan Buddhist monastery of the Sherpa community. Then we will be visiting the Namche Bazaar, one of the Sherpa capitals of the Khumbu region, where we will be exploring the rich culture of the Sherpa communities. After crossing three high challenging passes of this peak Renjo La (5365 m), Cho La (5365 m) and Khongma La (5530 m), our summit will be easily accomplished.

As you arrive at the airport our Accent Himalaya staff will greet and take to the hotel at there you can rest and freshen up. Or if you like you can visit our office.


Today we will be sightseeing the Kathmandu heritage place like durbar square, pashupatinath temple one of the Hindu temple and also the cremation site of Hindus, bouhanath and swambhunath sacred temple. And after that take arrest in your hotel as the actual trek begins from tomorrow.


Today we will take an airstrip from Kathmandu to lukla here you will be introduce to your guides and porter. At first we will wander around the Chaurikharka village and descending down to the dudhkoshighat and following the dudhKoshi River and for a while trekking we reach at Phakding where will stop and rest for a while. 2,650m/8,705ft and here we will be spending our night and acclimatizing.


Today from phakding we will trek to namche one of the Sherpa settlements on the trail you will trekking through the huge pine forests. We will reach at Monjo for a permit check and then descending towards the dudhKoshi River. On the way you will be spotting several mani stones. Following the river we will reach at jorsale where we will be having our lunch. And crossing the challenging Hilary suspension bridge you will be reaching the namche village where you get the slightly view of the highest mountain Everest.


Today we will be taking rest and sightseeing the namche and also acclimatizing. We will be visiting the Namche bazar where there is all local stuff available and even the trekking equipment’s is available. If you want to adapt the acclimatize the altitude there is option where we can trek for 2-3 hours to khumjung and to the sacred cave which is said to be house of the yeti and visiting the monasteries.


Today we will be trekking to the home of the largest gompa of khumbu region where you get to view the spectacular mountains like Everest, Nuptse, Lhotse, AmaDablam, and Thamserku are clearly seen.


We then head towards the pheriche another outstanding spot of the Khumba region. At here you will be observing the Sherpa communities mostly of them are engaged in yak herders and farming practices where you get to explore the way of living of the local Sherpa communities.


Today we will be trekking to the rugged mountain terrain and to the lobuche where we get the awesome views of the Mt. Lobuche, Mt. Pumari and the Nuptse. So during the night time the weather will be bit cold so prepare yourself to adjust this weather as we are high above the sea levels.


Today we will be trekking to an easy trek from lobuche to gorakshep. Then we will be heading to the Everest base camp which will be bit harder trek where will be trekking to the Rocky Mountains, debris and glaciated moraines. And on the trail we will view Khumbu glacier. At the Everest Base Camp we get the close view of the highest mountain Everest.


Today from EBC we will be trekking to bit challenging trek to the kalapathar where you will be trekking the rocky mountain challenging climb but you get the splendid view of the Himalayan mountains. As we reach at dingboche village with the stone huts settlements where you get the view of the makalu mountain.


As today we will be ascending further to dingboche as climbing more we get the practice of climbing further summit so it will be easy to summit this Island peak climbing. Our well experienced guides will give you training on climbing this high summit by how to use the climbing equipment and how to use the ropes like moving up and down etc.


Today our actual main trek destination begins where we will be climbing to the island peak climbing steadily bus calling the icy trail and summiting this island peak is demanding and challenging so when you reach at the top of the summit you get the rewarding views of the highest mountain Everest, nuptse, Lhotse, amaDablam and other several peaks.


And descending down we retrace back to the Chukung village where we get to explore the Sherpa communities their culture and their daily practices and their way of living and also get to observe the yak herders.


After a few hours of trekking to the pheriche we will reach at tengboche and continuing trekking we reach at the namche in the mid afternoon and here we will be spending our night at namche.


After finishing having our breakfast we will head retrace towards the Hillary suspension bridge and we will be passing through several villages and we will reach at lukla and there we will take to our respective hotel and if you like we can sightsee the lukla and spending our last night at this mountain region.


Today we will take an airstrip from lukla to Kathmandu and from there our guides will drop you to the hotel and then you can rest and freshen up or do some shopping and in the evening our staff will give you a farewell dinner where we will be celebrating for our accomplishing our peak expedition and we also want your feedback of this expedition.


Today after breakfast if not done shopping yet you can do it today and our guides will drop you 3 hours before your flight time so you reach your destination safely.

Accommodation for Island Peak Climbing with Everest Base Camp

Accent Himalaya manages its best to provide good food and comfortable accommodation. During your stay in Kathmandu, standard hotels (rated 2-3 stars) will be provided (for 4 nights). However, if you are willing to pay more, we can arrange some luxurious room from 4-5 star hotels. But once you set out for Island Peak Climbing with EBC trek, normal lodges or Teahouse will be arranged where you get a normal bed and pillow. In the snow-capped level, we will be camping and staying in a tent.

Few lodges have electric lights but others rely on candle lights or lanterns. Nevertheless, there will be a good provision of food. All the lodges are booked prior to your trekking but in some cases, they cannot be booked in advance. In such a case, you need to show willingness since it is an adventurous trekking and some facilities are limited to the high mountains.

Meals and Drinks for Island Peak Climbing with EBC

All the meals and breakfast required for you are included in our package. Dinner and breakfast will be served in the same lodge where you spend overnight and the team leader or guide will find you a good place for lunch on the way to your destination. All meals are served while we are in camp or tent. We recommend you to carry water purification pills along with you as normal water will be provided free of cost. If you wish to drink bottled water, they are available in the shop and tea houses. However, bottled water and liquors are not included in the package.

Luggage/Backpack for Island Peak Climbing with EBC

During your trek, your main luggage will be carried by our porters and you will be carrying a small backpack with your water bottle, camera, tissue paper, towel, or other gears that you need to use frequently. The clothes and gears that you don’t need can be packed and left in the locker or safe deposit box in the hotel free of cost.

Normal weight limit at Nepal’s domestic airline is 15 kg including your hand carry and in case you exceed the limit, you need to pay the extra amount which is not included in our package.

Guide/Porter on Trek

Accent Himalaya provides you a very trained and experienced trekking guide who will handle all the logistics and other issues that may emerge during your trek. We have the best provision of very loyal and honest porters who will carry 20 kg from two tourists (10 kg each). If you are trekking in a bigger group (more than 10 people in a group), we will provide you an additional guide.

Group Size, Guide, and Crew Member 

Accent Himalaya organizes Island Peak Climbing with EBC trek from a minimum of a single person to the maximum of 16 people in a group at once. However, larger groups trek can be arranged by splitting the groups. One guide is provided for up to 6 trekkers and 2 guides are provided up to 16 trekkers. One porter is provided for 2 trekkers. The guide will be in the same hotel or lodge where you are accommodated but porter might be placed somewhere else during your trip.

Personal Expenses on Trek

A personal expense literally depends upon your personal habit; whether you are alcoholic or non-alcoholic, extravagant or thrifty and so on. Normally, the cost of the meal and accommodation during the trek are covered in our package and you will be liable to pay for table drinks (both alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages), snacks while trekking, souvenirs, hot shower (available in some places) tips to the guide and porters, meals during your stay at Kathmandu (a normal meal costs $ 5-7 in Kathmandu) as well as the entrance fees during your city tour to different places in Kathmandu (approximately $ 25). Tips to the guide and porter are your personal choice. However, we advise you to give tip and allocate 5-10 percent of your total tour cost if you are satisfied with their service.

Gears Available in Kathmandu

All the necessary gears required for the trek are available in Kathmandu for a reasonable price or even you can hire them. Hence, you don’t have to spend a large amount of money for your trip preparation in your home country.

A Typical Day on Trek

On a usual day, you are required to walk for 4-6 hours every day. After having breakfast, you will set out for the day’s walk for 3-4 hours until midday and stop for lunch. After lunch, you continue to your destination. The after lunch walk is comparatively shorter and can reach the destination within next couple of hours. On some particular days, you will get to reach your destination at lunchtime and after that, you can take rest and enjoy the remaining hours. After reaching your destination of the day, you can relax, stretch your body, take a shower, read some books, roam around or even play cards in a group.

Our Greetings at Airport

We advise you to flow the information of your international flight details after you confirm your Island Peak Climbing with EBC Trekking with Accent Himalaya for our meeting and greetings. Right after you cross the Customs and check out of the terminal building, you will find our representative holding a placard with your name or the name of the company (Accent Himalaya) and drop you to your hotel in a private car. In case you have booked the hotel by yourself, we suggest you inform us in advance the name of the hotel you are about to stay so that our representative can drop you to your hotel and would be easier to meet with the team leader or the guide.

Flight Delay at Kathmandu and Lukla

The Twin Otter Plane is the only mode of transportation to and from Lukla on this tour. Sometimes flights to and from Lukla may be canceled due to sudden changes in mountain weather. So, we have kept an additional day at the end of the tour on our trekking itinerary to use it in case of flight delayed or canceled.

So, if the flights cancel for 2 or more days, we will charter a helicopter to ensure you are on a scheduled flight to your destination and the cost of this extra service is payable directly to our office at Kathmandu. If you have to use this service in US dollars or credit cards (Visa Cards, Master Cards only), we will provide you the receipt of the payment with which you can claim the amount from your insurance company. The minimum cost for helicopter charter will be US $ 500 and the maximum US $ 3500 depending on the number of people in the flight.

Itinerary and Possible Changes to it

Our normal Itinerary includes the days of your trek which is the most usual and practical. In the package, the days of your arrival and departure and a day of city tour are also counted. In case you managed further schedule, you want to exclude those days for our service and just want us to help you with the trekking part, upon your request, we can rearrange and adjust the itinerary and let you know about the final cost for the trip.

Also, you can extend or shorten your trek if you feel it’s necessary with consulting our guide on the way to your destination. We recommend you to finish the trek within the last day mentioned in our package as many unforeseen circumstances may befall any time.


Health, Safety, and Security of the clients are always our top most priority. So, In case of a serious sickness or any mishaps, while you are on Island Peak Climbing with EBC Trek (which we believe will not happen), we will do everything to transfer you to the nearest hospital to save your life and you are entirely liable for all the expenses incurred in evacuation/rescue. So, please make sure that these expenses are covered by your insurance policy before assigning for the trek or you have to pay on your own after getting back to Kathmandu. Booking and Payment

You are required to make 20% (non-refundable) payment in advance in order to confirm and book Island Peak Climbing with EBC trekking along with a photocopy of your passport and flight details (arrival detail, flight name, number and time) and the remaining 80% balance is due when you arrive in Nepal. You have an option of paying the advance by bank transfer or credit card. So, do let us know which modes of payment are convenient for you, then we will forward the details of payment.
