Overview

 

Island Peak Climbing with Everest Base Camp is one of the popular peak climbing located at Khumbu region of eastern Nepal high at the altitude of 6189 m and 20307 ft. This is very famed peak climbing suitable for both frequent and novice expeditors. Also known as Imja Tse, it was first ascended by the Swiss team in 1956. This peak was named by the mountaineer - Eric Shipton in 1951. It is categorized as alpine PD+. Climbing this peak is physically hard, however not technically challenging though.

This peak climbing is also one of the interested ones among the trekkers and we Accent Himalaya have arranged the itinerary in such a way that we will be staying in between some places to acclimatize with the altitude. With the help of our professional guides and skilled climbing techniques, we successfully can accomplish this island peak climbing.

As you summit this peak, you get the splendid views of Mount Everest (8848 m), Mount Lhotse (8500 m), Mount Makalu (8478 m), Mount Nuptse (7880 m), Mount Ama Dablam (6812 m) and Mount Baruntse (7129 m) at the closest view. On the way to the route, we will summit Kalapathar (altitude of 5540 m and 18188 ft) and then we will be heading to Everest Base Camp.

This Island Peak with Everest Base Camp climbing begins from Lukla, heading to Namche Bazar and then from Tengboche to Kalapathar. From here, you get to observe the closest view of the highest peak Mount Everest. Moving towards the Everest Base Camp on the trail - you will be visiting the Sherpa communities at Pangboche, where you get to observe their local culture and the way of living.

We will be also be visiting the Tengboche Tibetan Buddhist monastery of the Sherpa community. Then we will be visiting the Namche Bazaar, one of the Sherpa capitals of the Khumbu region, where we will be exploring the rich culture of the Sherpa communities. After crossing three high challenging passes of this peak Renjo La (5365 m), Cho La (5365 m) and Khongma La (5530 m), our summit will be easily accomplished.

This Island Peak Climbing can be done in the month of February to May and September to December.  During these months, there will be no such climate issues and you get the clearer splendid mountains views. Detail Itinerary

DAY 1 - KATHMANDU: ARRIVAL DAY

We heartily welcome you to the Himalayan country - Nepal. As soon as you arrive at the Kathmandu airport, our representative from the Accent Himalaya Trekking will be there waiting for you once you have finished all your custom formalities and are heading to the terminal gate. There you will see our staff carrying a signboard of Accent Himalaya Trekking Team and a warm welcome before driving you to your hotel. If you choose to book your flight to arrive a few days before your trek gets underway, we can visit some of the heritage sites of Kathmandu. This Everest base camp trek with island peak climb begins at the office of Accent Himalaya with a small discussion/meeting about your trek. In the evening, our company will be hosting a welcome dinner in an excellent Nepali restaurant, which serves mouth-watering Nepali cuisine.

DAY 2 - KATHMANDU: SIGHTSEEING

Today we will be sightseeing the Kathmandu heritage place like durbar square, pashupatinath temple one of the Hindu temple and also the cremation site of Hindus, bouhanath and swambhunath sacred temple. And after that take arrest in your hotel as the actual trek begins from tomorrow.

DAY 3 - KATHMANDU TO LUKLA FLIGHT AND PHAKDING

Today we will take an airstrip from Kathmandu to lukla here you will be introduce to your guides and porter. At first we will wander around the Chaurikharka village and descending down to the dudhkoshighat and following the dudhKoshi River and for a while trekking we reach at Phakding where will stop and rest for a while. 2,650m/8,705ft and here we will be spending our night and acclimatizing.

DAY 4 - PHAKDING TO NAMCHE

Today from phakding we will trek to namche one of the Sherpa settlements on the trail you will trekking through the huge pine forests. We will reach at Monjo for a permit check and then descending towards the dudhKoshi River. On the way you will be spotting several mani stones. Following the river we will reach at jorsale where we will be having our lunch. And crossing the challenging Hilary suspension bridge you will be reaching the namche village where you get the slightly view of the highest mountain Everest.

DAY 5 - NAMCHE: ACCLIMATIZATION OR TREK TO KHUMJUNG

Today we will be taking rest and sightseeing the namche and also acclimatizing. We will be visiting the Namche bazar where there is all local stuff available and even the trekking equipment’s is available. If you want to adapt the acclimatize the altitude there is option where we can trek for 2-3 hours to khumjung and to the sacred cave which is said to be house of the yeti and visiting the monasteries.

DAY 6 - NAMCHE TO TENGBOCHE

Today we will be trekking to the home of the largest gompa of khumbu region where you get to view the spectacular mountains like Everest, Nuptse, Lhotse, AmaDablam, and Thamserku are clearly seen.

DAY 7 - TENGBOCHE TO PHERICHE

We then head towards the pheriche another outstanding spot of the Khumba region. At here you will be observing the Sherpa communities mostly of them are engaged in yak herders and farming practices where you get to explore the way of living of the local Sherpa communities.

DAY 8 - PHERICHE TO LOBUCHE

Today we will be trekking to the rugged mountain terrain and to the lobuche where we get the awesome views of the Mt. Lobuche, Mt. Pumari and the Nuptse. So during the night time the weather will be bit cold so prepare yourself to adjust this weather as we are high above the sea levels.

DAY 9 - LOBUCHE TO GORAKSHEP AND EVEREST BASE CAMP

Today we will be trekking to an easy trek from lobuche to gorakshep. Then we will be heading to the Everest base camp which will be bit harder trek where will be trekking to the Rocky Mountains, debris and glaciated moraines. And on the trail we will view Khumbu glacier. At the Everest Base Camp we get the close view of the highest mountain Everest.

DAY 10 - EBC TO KALAPATHER AND DINGBOCHE

Today from EBC we will be trekking to bit challenging trek to the kalapathar where you will be trekking the rocky mountain challenging climb but you get the splendid view of the Himalayan mountains. As we reach at dingboche village with the stone huts settlements where you get the view of the makalu mountain.

DAY 11 - DINGBOCHE TO CHUKUNG, CLIMBING TRAINING

As today we will be ascending further to dingboche as climbing more we get the practice of climbing further summit so it will be easy to summit this Island peak climbing. Our well experienced guides will give you training on climbing this high summit by how to use the climbing equipment and how to use the ropes like moving up and down etc.

DAY 12 - ISLAND PEAK: SUMMIT, RETURN TO CHUKUNG

Today our actual main trek destination begins where we will be climbing to the island peak climbing steadily bus calling the icy trail and summiting this island peak is demanding and challenging so when you reach at the top of the summit you get the rewarding views of the highest mountain Everest, nuptse, Lhotse, amaDablam and other several peaks.

DAY 13 - CHUKUNG TO TENGBOCH

And descending down we retrace back to the Chukung village where we get to explore the Sherpa communities their culture and their daily practices and their way of living and also get to observe the yak herders.

DAY 14 - TENGBOCHE TO NAMCHE OR MANJU

After a few hours of trekking to the pheriche we will reach at tengboche and continuing trekking we reach at the namche in the mid afternoon and here we will be spending our night at namche.

DAY 15 - NAMCHE TO PHAKDING AND LUKLA

After finishing having our breakfast we will head retrace towards the Hillary suspension bridge and we will be passing through several villages and we will reach at lukla and there we will take to our respective hotel and if you like we can sightsee the lukla and spending our last night at this mountain region.

DAY 16 - LUKLA TO KATHMANDU

Today we will take an airstrip from lukla to Kathmandu and from there our guides will drop you to the hotel and then you can rest and freshen up or do some shopping and in the evening our staff will give you a farewell dinner where we will be celebrating for our accomplishing our peak expedition and we also want your feedback of this expedition.

DAY 17 - KATHMANDU: DEPARTURE DAY

Today after breakfast if not done shopping yet you can do it today and our guides will drop you 3 hours before your flight time so you reach your destination safely.
