Tilicho Lake and Thorong La Pass is a stimulating trek that leads you to the incredible escapade to the highest lake in the world with the superior mountain scenery. This is a captivating trek that is both challenging and satisfying. The Tilicho Lake and Thorong La Pass Trek trails to the eastern portion of the worlds popular Annapurna Circuit with an extraordinary trekking over varied and mixture of exceptional societies on your trail.

The mountains we get to observe from Tilicho lake trails are Annapurna I (8091 m, 26540 ft) which is the 10th highest peak in the world. This peak was first ascended by the French summit it in 1950. Other additional peaks we get to sight is Dhaulagiri (8167 m, 267790 ft) which is the 7th highest peak, Manaslu ( 8163 m, 26780 ft) which is 8th highest peak and Machhapuchhre (6993 m, 22945 ft).

This trekking begins from the scenic drive to Bhulbhule from Kathmandu. From here, we will be following the Marsyangdi River and then trek to Manang Village. From Manang, we will continue trekking to reach to our main destination Tilicho Lake Base Camp at an altitude of 4900 m. Here we will relish this sacred lake with the reflection of the several mountains views on the lake which makes an overwhelming experience and the Thorong La Pass (5415 m, 17768 ft) connecting the glacier below the Tilicho Peak.

Other attractions to explore here is an ancient temple Muktinath; one of the sacred site of Hindus and Buddhists and several other villages with their unique traditional way of living. On the trail, we also get to observe the blue sheep and their herds.

And then we will retrace back following the circuit route to Jomsom and from where we take a scenic flight to Pokhara; one of the tourist hot spot along with the amazing sights of the Lakes and Himalayas.

This trekking can be done in every season but usually preferred in the month of February to May and from September to December. This trekking can be also be done by the novice trekkers with sound health. Though a challenging trek, this offers you the rewarding views of the mountains and the beautiful Tilicho Lake.

Day 01- Arrival in Kathmandu airport (1,345meter).

Our representative of Accent Himalaya will pick you from the airport and transfer you to the hotel on a private tourist vehicle. In the evening, we will have welcome dinner together tasting the delicious Nepalese food. We hope you will enjoy.

Day 02- Pre-trip Meeting and Sightseeing around Kathmandu valley.

Today after having our breakfast, we will be going to sightsee  Kathmandu, also known as the town of temple. We visit some UNESCO WORLD HERITAGE site such as the Pashupatinath, Kathmandu Durbar Square, Boudhanath, and the Swayambhunath.

These places are full of historical stories, norms, and value of Nepalese. We find so many interesting and amazing arts and architecture of Nepali culture. The handicraft (Hasthakala, Murtikala, Chitrakala, Bastukala, etc) are the main attraction of the visitors.

After visiting those place, if time allows us, we further visit other places like Thamel Bazaar - the tourist hub for shopping.

Day 03 - Drive to Besisahar (830m) by Public Bus - 7 hrs

Early in the morning, we catch a bus to Besishar (185 km) from Kathmandu. After reaching Besisahar, we will witness stunning snow-covered peaks and mountain views.

Day 04 - Trek to Bahundanda (1,310m) - 5 hrs

Early in the morning after having our breakfast, we start to trek from Besisahar to Bahundanda. We follow the trail leading to Khudi and reach first at the Gurung village in our journey. With another few walks, we admire the views of Himalchuli and peak 29 (Ngadi Chuli). We climb to Bhulbule and then arrive at Ngadi before reaching Lampata. After some trek, we will reach Bahundanda.

Day 05 - Trek to Chamje (1,400m) - 5 hrs

We will drop down to Syange at 1070m from Bahundanda with steep trails. If the season is of rainfall, we will see the large waterfall. Onward, we cross the Marshyangdi River over the suspension bridge. Then we follow the river to Jagat and trek through the forest to reach Chyamje.

Day 06 - Trek to Bagarchhap (2,160m) - 5 hrs

We start day trekking with rocky trails following the Marshyandi River uphill steadily to Tal (1675 m),  the first village in Manang valley.  Our journey continues with ups and down for reaching Dharapani (1890 m). After few more steps, we finally arrive at Bagarchap - typical flat-roofed stone houses of local Tibetans surrounding by apple orchards and maize fields.

Day 07 - Trek to Chame (2,630m) - 5 hrs

Today we climb to Tyanja at 2360m then continue through the jungle near the river to Kopar (2590 m). On our route, we will be introduced to the local community that said have been migrated from Tibet centuries ago. After reaching to Chame, headquarters of the Manang district, we will witness the views of Annapurna II and two hot springs.

Day 08 - Trek to Pisang (3,300m) - 5 hrs

We continue to trek through a steep narrow valley and deep forest, crossing stream over a long bridge at 2910 m. Again we cross the bridge at 3040 m with the views of soaring Paungada danda’s rock face. And we join the trails to climb for Pisang (3200 m to 3300 m).

Day 09 - Trek to Manang (3,540m) - 5 hrs

We continue to trek with a walk over the drier upper part of Manang region as being cut off from monsoon because of standing Annapurna range. We leave Pisang with alternative choices. We may follow the trails south of Marshyandi River meeting to Mungji or may follow South way by Hongde with airstrip at 325 m which involving less climbing than northern route by Ghyaru - although there are better views on the trails following the northern route. Also from Mungji, our trails pass through the picturesque and hidden village of Bryanga (3475 m). Manang is near the Bryanga.

Day 10 - Acclimatization day at Manang village

We spend the whole day for acclimatization and rest in Manang. We spend the day with sightseeing and visiting the area. We explore the area and return to the guesthouse.

Day 11 - Trek to Khangsar Village (3,700 m) - 4 hrs

We continue to trek towards Tilicho lake, west ends of Manang districts. With down to the river and crossing Khangsar Khola, we reach Khangsar village - still very traditional Tibetan village and also known as the last village of Nepal.

Day 12 - Trekking to Tilicho Base Camp (4,200m) - 5 hrs

Today we continue to trek from Khangsar with a large path Passing through the Gumba.  We will move ahead on a recently constructed path up towards a high ridge. With the intersection of path maintains the altitude, traversing the slopes towards a place where the valley is narrow and another path continues to ascend the line of a ridge. We continue through the new one, latter way, that goes completely different way. Continue with the new path, reach a high crest, and descend down on backs carved out through the scree slopes to the side of the main valley. On the other side is the Tilicho Base Camp.

Day 13 - Trek to Tilicho Lake (5,200 m) and back down to Tilicho Base Camp (4,200m) - 6 hrs

Today we will finally reach the destination of our trek journey.  We start with early in the morning to avoid the wind.  After a climb of 3-4 hours, we finally reach to Lake Tilicho, world highest pointed lake, a cold barren place. After spending some time we will return to base camp.

Day 14 - Trek to Yak Kharka (4,000m) - 5 hrs

With trek from Manang (reach after descending down), we ascend nearly 500 m to Yak Kharka. We climb steadily through the Tenki Manang, leaving Marshyandi valley. After trek from Jarsang Khola valley, we will arrive at Yak Kharka at 4000 m.

Day 15 - Trek to Thorong Phedi (4,450m) - 5 hrs

With long ascending trails cross, will descend to cross the river at 4310 m - then climb up to Thorong Phedi (base of peaks).

Day 16 - Trek to Muktinath (3,800m) via Thorung La pass (5,416m) - 8 hrs

We take a long trek for a day. We start early in the morning around  4 am to reach the Pass, Thorong Pass, around at 9-10am. We will climb on a steeply regular using route for easiness to ascend. Problems may arise because of snow and altitude. We will get the reward of amazing views of whole Mustang valley. And we will continue to trek for arriving at the Holy place, the town of Muktinath.

Mukti means relief from the cycle of birth and death and Nath means Lord or Bhagawan use by Hindus. So Mukthinath means one of the faces of Lord Vishnu, who delivers our soul. Muktinath is most Pilgrimage place for both Hindu and Buddhist.  We can see the 108 waterspouts, Jwalama Mai Temple with gorgeous natural spring and eternal flame fueled by natural gas.

Day 17- Trek to Jomsom (2,720m) - 5 hrs

We will return back on the same route to arrive Muktinath. We follow a trail down to the Eklebhatti and walk along with the great Kali Gandaki River to Jomsom.  Jomsom is a large town with many facilities, the district headquarter of Mustang. And also have an airstrip.

Day 18- Morning flight to Pokhara - 30 mins. Sightseeing around Pokhara

We take an early flight from Jomsom to Pokhara. As per your interest, we will visit the Fewa Lakeside in Pokhara. We have a time for visiting and sightseeing around Pokhara valley that covers  Fewa Lake, Devi’s waterfall, Museum, Tibetan refugee settlement and Gupteshower cave, etc.

Day 19 - Drive back to Kathmandu (1,345m) and farewell dinner

You may extend your trip further to continue for Chitwan jungle safari, rafting adventure, Kathmandu valley shopping tour, scenic Everest flight, mountain biking and other activities as per your choice. In the evening, we will have a farewell dinner with the celebration of succession on entire trek adventure in a traditional Nepalese restaurant hosted by Accent Himalaya.

Day 20 - Transfer to international airport for your final departure

Our entire trip concludes today. Our Representative will drop you at the airport in Kathmandu for your flight before 3 hours.
