Everest Renjo la Pass Trek

Overview

Everest Renjo La Pass (5380 m) lies over the Machermo glacier in the Khumbu region. This pursuit discovers the mountainous view and trek to the exclusive landscapes in this delightful Himalayan country. This trekking is a complete package of one of the most exciting trekking in the Everest region.

This somewhat easy trail allows those explorers having inadequate vacation time to explore the famed natural locale of this region and attempt this adventurous trek where one gets magnificent high mountain views of several snow-capped peaks. This path goes through the Khumbu region which is the core of the Sherpa village. This trek rewards you with beautiful Himalayan landscape of the whole Solukhumbu region as well as pristine views of Mount Everest (8848 m), Mount Lhotse (5816 m), Mount Makalu (8485 m), Mount Cho Oyu (8188 m), Mount Nuptse (7861 m), Mount Pumori (7161 m), Mount  Ama Dablam (6812 m), Mount Thamserku (6623 m).

Including on the trail, you also get to discover the lush gorges, crossing several high passes explore Tibetan Sherpa Culture and their warm hospitality and even visit several Buddhists monasteries. You also get to spot several Chortens with colorful flags, which makes your trail more peaceful and adventurous.

This trekking to Everest Renjo La Pass (5380 m) starts after taking an airstrip to Lukla, which will take max time of 35 minutes where you get spot top view of the Himalayan Mountain from the air. And from here we will be trekking over Sherpa village through Chaurikharaka, Phakding and finally reach Namche Bazaar where we will be spending a day exercising small hike and adapting the altitude. Next day, we continue trekking climbing thru Dole Machermo Gokyo Lake. And next day, again trek to the high pass Gokyo Ri (5365 m). From here, we get the splendid mountains views that we have desired. The following day, we will trek to our main destination and ascend to Renjo La Pass and finally, we descend down to Lungden, Thame and retrace back to Lukla.

We Accent Himalaya can organize this trek in all seasons as per the trekker’s desire but we usually arrange this in spring and autumn which are the finest season for treks in this Everest Renjo La Pass. For this trekking one should have a max of a couple of weeks of holiday. Detail Itinerary

Day 01- Arrival in Kathmandu airport (1345meters)

Upon your arrival at Tribhuvan Int’l Airport, our representative from Accent Himalaya will pick up you and take you directly to the hotel. In the evening, we get together for our dinner hosted by Accent Himalaya. We taste the cultural Nepalese food which gives you the taste of the Nepali culture and tradition.

Day 02: Trek preparation & city tour in Kathmandu

Early in the morning, after our breakfast, our English speaking guide will take you for sightseeing the Kathmandu valley. We will visit historical, traditional and religious place located in Kathmandu valley. We visit the Pashupathi Chettra (Pasupathinath temple), the Monkey temple aka Swayambhunath, the world largest Stupa - the Boudhanath Stupa, the Kathmandu Durbar Square and as many places as possible.

Day 03: Kathmandu Lukla - Phakding (2652m) 3 hrs

Waking with the first sunlight, we take our breakfast and transit to the domestic airport of Kathmandu and take over a flight to Lukla. Our flight might be 50 minutes and is the world’s amazing route. We get amazed by the amazing views of the dramatic vision of high peaks and hill as well as the snow covered lands which is an amazing combination. 

After landing at the Tenzing Hillary Air station at Lukla, we meet our crew members and start preparation and packing. We start our first step of the trek and adventure walking through the beautiful village,  descend to Chaurikharkha heading up to the Dudh Koshi valley and reach Phakding. We stop today’s journey here. As per your wishes, for additional activities, we will side trek to the nearby Monastery.

Day 04: Trek to Namche Bazar (3440m) 6 hrs

Our trek today is much exciting not only because of up and downhill walks but also of crossing and re-crossing the River Dudh Khoshi with the magnificent views of Mt. Thamserku from Benkar village. We will cross more bridge and Hillary suspension bridge and reach Monjo. At Monjo, our trekking permits are checked and we enter the Sagarmatha National Park (Everest National Park). 

Our gradual walks take us to the amazing village called Jorsale. We trek further through the river bed and Hillary suspension bridge and climb up for Namche Bazaar, we will greet by the magnificent views of Mt. Everest, Lhotse, Twanche, Kusum peak, Kangaru peak and Khandge peak. We take a break at Chautra for admiring the magnificent views. Then, we reach to the main trading Bazaar of Khumbu Region - Namche Bazaar.

Day 05: Acclimatization day – Hike to Everest view hotel (3900m) 3-4 hrs

Today we stop at Namche Bazaar for acclimatization. We visit the entire Bazaar whole day and also hike to the amazing place - the Everest view point hotel from where we come face to face with the Mt Everest, Mt Lhotse, Mt Makalu and entire Khumbu region. You may also have an option for side trek to Thame or Khunde or explore the Namche Bazaar.

Day 06: Trek to Dole (4200m) 5 hrs

Our trial is easy at the beginning up to Kyangjuma and we climb steeply out of the valley through the forest of Rhododendron, blooming in the spring season. We pass through many Kharkas, summer settlements for grazing the yaks. Our route is over the settlements of the Tongba and Gyele to Dole where some hotels are estabilished. From the Dole, we may see the incredible views of the Khumbila and Tawache.

Day 07:Trek to Machhermo (4400m) 5 hrs

Our today’s trail climbs to Lambara and Luza. The trails, steep in most places, climb through brush junipers. We cross through the Kharkas where flat spots with the slightest hint of water. We continue to climb along the side of the river, high above the river crossing sandy spurs to Machherma. In here - Yeti killed three yaks and attacked a Sherpa Women in 1974 which is the most credited Yeti incident ever reported.

Day 08: Trek to Gokyo Lake (4700m) 4 hrs

Today we climb to a ridge for an excellent view both down the Kantegs valley and up towards the Cho Oyu (8201 m). Then our trails pass through Pangka, thereafter to the riverbank before the beginning of the climb to the terminal moraine of Ngozumpa Glacier. It is the steep climb up the moraine, switchbacking alongside the stream to the first small lake, the residency of the family of green brainy ducks.

Day 09: Hike to Gokyo RI (5360m) 4 hrs

Early in the morning - we wake up and climb up the Gokyo Ri for visions of the panoramic views of Mahalangur Himalayan Range, Cho Oyu, Gyachung Kang, Everest, Lhotse, Nuptse, Makalu, Cholatse, Tawache, and the great views of Ngozumpa Glacier (the largest Glacier of Nepal). We decent to Gokyo and relax with Lunch and hot tea.

Day 10: Trek to Lungden (4300m) via Renjo La pass (5340m) 7 hrs

Today crossing the Renjo La Pass will be exciting and challenging as we descend into the remoteness of the northern valley where access is restricted (as being of the Tibetan land). We have a chance to meet the Tibetan traders on the way with their caravans and wool or woolen clothes.

Day 11: Trek to Thame (3800m) 4 hrs

Early in the morning after having breakfast, we will trek down to Thame, more amazing snow peaks. Thame Monastery, 150 meters from Thame a picturesque monastery set among the many homes of monks and lay people. This is the side for the spring celebration of the Mani Rimdu festival which is held in the middle of May each year.

Day13: Trek to Lukla (2800m) 7 hrs

We catch our flight to Kathmandu after the long trek along Dudh Koshi River to the small mountain airstrip at Lukla.

Day 14: Fly back to Kathmandu

We come back to Kathmandu on air by 30 minutes flight

Day 15: Leisure Day

Today we will have a leisure day in Kathmandu.

Day 16: Final Departure

Today our  Renjo La Pass Trek trip comes to an end. If you have more time, you can do some shopping or sightseeing. Approximately 3 hours before your scheduled flight, a representative from Accent Himalaya will take you to the airport for your flight back to home.
