Summary
Gokyo Ri Trekking begins from 40 minutes flight in a domestic airline from Tribhuvan International Airport, Kathmandu to Tenzing-Hillary Airport, Lukla. Then observing the mystic beauties and winding trails, you will climb uphill to Phakding village passing many beautiful Sherpa hamlets on the way. Now, the trail descends to the Dudh Koshi River (Milk River) which is also one of the tributaries of Shapta Koshi River. Walking along the Dudh Koshi valley, you will reach Namche Bazaar which is the heavenly abode of Sherpa inhabitants in the lap of Mount Everest.
It is also the major portal to Everest Region. Acclimatizing yourself with a short hike to and fro around Namche Bazaar for a day, you will move to Gokyo crossing dense rhododendron forest, Kharkas, and Macherma (a lovely Sherpa village) on the way. The next day, you will climb up to Gokyo Ri, (the highest place of this Gokyo Valley) trekking from where you can enjoy the surreal view of Mount Everest, Lhotse, Ama Dablam, Nuptse, Makalu, Cho-Oyu and Gychung Kang. Then you will be returning back to Lukla and fly to Kathmandu to wrap up the trekking.
