Kathmandu Valley and Bardia National Park Tour

Overview

This trip is a combination package for exploring ancient architectural and historical splendor of Kathmandu valley including exploration of Bardia National Park. This 8 days trip flowers from visiting some of the UNESCO World Heritage Site of Kathmandu exploring various historical heritage sites. Usually, on these sites, you get to visit the stalls where people be selling the local wooden masks and some unique antique stuff.

Next, we head to Nagarkot which is famous for viewing the dawn and twilight with Himalayan views. Then we head to the largest national park of Nepal which is Bardia National Park. It lies in western Terai of Nepal. Some attractions of Bardia National Park are jungle safaris via elephant back ride, settlement tour, cultural shows, home to endangered royal Bengal tigers and Nepal’s famous one horn rhinoceros with varieties of birds and flowers. During our stay in this Terai region, we will get a chance explore Tharu communities.

Our tour begins with sightseeing the UNESCO Heritage Site of Kathmandu. First, we will explore the popular palace - Kathmandu Durbar Square. It is an ancient squared palace surrounded by some temples and unique architecture. This surrounding was massively destructed by the earthquake occurred on 25th April 2015. Some renovations are still going on.

Next, we will visit the Pashupatinath temple which is one of the most sacred sites for the Hindus. Devotes from around the world come visit this temple all year around. Next is Boudhanath and Swambhunath temple which are chiefly pilgrimaged sites for the Buddhists.  The following day, we will be exploring another city Patan and Bhaktapur. From here, we drive to Nagarkot to get the spectacular twilight view. The following day, we fly to Nepalgunj and drive to Bardia National Park and spend some days enjoying by doing various adventurous activities like elephant safari etc and even explore the typical lifestyles of the Tharu communities.

This excursion can be exulted in spring (March-May) and fall (September-December) as of fair weather to explore diverse wildlife.  If you are well adapted to cold, we also do arrange this tour in winter (late December–February). Day 01: Arrival in Kathmandu (1,300m/4,264ft)

As you arrive at the airport, our team will be there waiting and after welcoming you, they will take you to your respective hotel. You can then take rest for a while and freshen up and later we will be visiting the office of Accent Himalaya. In the evening, we will be hosting a welcome dinner in a good Nepali restaurant which serves authentic Nepali cuisine. We will be spending our night at the hotel.

Day 02: Sightseeing in Kathmandu

After having our breakfast in the morning, we will be sightseeing Kathmandu by exploring four main UNESCO world heritage site of Kathmandu such as the Kathmandu Durbar square- which is one of the ancient Square beautifully built with ancient arts and architecture. Next would be the Pashupatinath temple - a famous Hindu temple where lots of Hindu devotees come from around the world come to worship Lord Shiva. Next is the Swayambhunath temple (also known as monkey temple) as you find lots of monkeys wandering around this temple. Next is the Boudhanath stupa - the largest stupa in the world. In this stupa, there are thousands of prayer wheels surrounding the stupa and there are more than 50 Gompas where you will find lots of Tibetan people doing Kora- pilgrimage around the stupa. We will be spending our night at the hotel.

Day 03: Sightseeing in Patan and Bhaktapur and sunset views from Nagarkot (2195m/7201ft)

Today we will be sightseeing the Patan Durbar square which is also listed in the UNESCO world heritage site. This square is beautifully built with ancient arts and architecture. Our next destinations would be visiting the appealing city - Bhaktapur - a city free from the hustle and bustle of Kathmandu. In Bhaktapur, there are many attractive spots to explore like the golden gate, Nyata- Pola temple, water spouts and the palace with 55 windows. Then we will drive to Nagarkot - a famous place to view the sunrise and sunset. Reaching Nagarkot, we will be enjoying the sunset view along with the Himalayas. We will be spending our night in Nagarkot.

Day 04: Fly to Nepalgunj, drive to Bardia National Park (300m/1000ft): 1-hour flight; 90km, 2 hours drive

We will wake up early morning to enjoy the sunrise view and then after breakfast, we head to Kathmandu airport to take a flight to Nepalgunj - located in western Nepal. From here, we will drive to Bardia national park and then check in to our resort and have our lunch. Then we will head to the Tharu village to explore the Tharu culture and their traditions. Next, we will head to the Bardia national park center and visit the crocodile farm. We will be spending our night at Bardia national park.

Day 05: Bardia National Park

After breakfast, we will be heading to the Bardia national park accompanied by our porter and the nature guide. This jungle of Bardia is the home to different wild animals such as one-horned rhinoceros, elephants, hog deer, spotted deer, barking deer, leopard, Bengal tiger, hyena and much more. At the jungle, there are towers at the different areas and from the top - one gets to capture the wildlife. After finishing our tour to the jungle, we will head to the resort and enjoy our dinner including with Tharu cultural dance. We will be spending our night at the National park.

Day 06: Bardia National Park

After having our breakfast, we will drive to Chisapani village located over the Karnali River. Today we will be exploring the park through safari float where we will get the pleasant view of wildlife also accompanied by the trained guide. The safari float ride is one of the enjoyable part of this trip to enjoy the views of the subtropical landscapes and spot different wildlife. On the river, as floating in huge Karnali river, we spot aquatics and reptiles which is home to crocodile, dolphins and marsh mugger. At this park, you will also get to observe different kinds of birds and then we will end our day observing the Tharu cultural dance program as well as joining them. We will be spending our night at Bardia national park.

Day 07: Drive to Nepalgunj, fly to Kathmandu

After having our breakfast, we will be riding on elephant back and enjoy the safari to the jungle where we get to observe different animals like one-horned rhinos, monkey, langurs, deer, and boars. After completing and enjoying the safari - we will drive to Nepalgunj and take a flight to Kathmandu.

Day 08: Final departure

Our journey finally comes to an end, so our team will drop you at airport three hours before your flight schedule.
