Nuptse Expedition

Overview

Nuptse is derived from the Tibetan language “West Peak” located to the south-west of Everest in the Khumbu region at above the elevation of 7695 m. This Nuptse range has 7 peaks - Nuptse I (7861) m, Nuptse II (7827 m), Nuptse Shar I (7804 m), Nuptse Nup I (7784 m), Nuptse Shar II (7776 m), Nuptse Nup II (7,742 m) and Nuptse Shar III (7695 m).

Nuptse I was first climbed on May 16, 1961, by Dennis Davis and Tashi Sherpa via the north-ridge. The sharp steep and the rocky face of the south of Nuptse is 5 kilometers wide and 2500 m high. This Nuptse Peak, when viewed from the Thyangboche monastery - looks like as if the peak is guarding the massive wall of Mount Everest. Anyone with sound health can attempt this expedition with least experience of climbing mountain as we have to reach the max elevation of 6000 m.

This expedition begins from sightseeing some of the sites in Kathmandu and then a scenic flight to Lukla. Then a short trek to Phakding following the Dudh Koshi River. Next day heading through the dense forest and crossing some suspension bridges - we will reach Namche Bazaar. Continuing our trekking for few more days, crossing some of the main regions of Everest like Thyangboche and Dingboche - we will be reaching Pangboche from where we get the spectacular view of Ama Dablam.

Next day we will just be acclimatizing hiking up to the hilly area, as Dingboche is a perfect site for adapting the altitude. Next, we trek to Lobuche and the following day we trek to Nuptse Base Camp. And next day we will be preparing for the summit and take plenty of rest acclimatizing. Next, we began our summit and after successful completion, we retrace back to base camp, then to Lobuche and so on.

The best time for the expedition and ascending high peaks will be perfect during spring (March-May) and autumn (September-November). This expedition is a 45-day adventurous journey where our itinerary has been cautiously designed by our climbing expert team focusing on clients safety and the altitude.
