Overview

Kathmandu transit tour is simply a short three-day tour to explore Kathmandu city, Patan and Bhaktapur city in a short span of time especially designed for business professionals. Here we explore and tour some of the significant heritage sites. Here aside visiting the ancient heritage sites, you also get to stroll around different souvenir stores to find local handicrafts, garments, arts and antiques for you to take along.

This Kathmandu transit tour begins from sightseeing the Kathmandu Durbar (palace) Square. It is an ancient build square palace from where the king used to rule the country centuries ago. The palace is surrounded by different temples built in pagodas style carved with ancient architecture. Next, we are headed to visit the Swambhunath temple often referred as monkey temple as you find lots of monkeys in this locale. In this temple, there is a small Stupa which is alike Boudhanath Stupa. You also get to explore some monasteries and temples nearby. Next, we will be visiting another well-preserved heritage site - the Pashupatinath temple. This temple is a very significant site for the Hindus and was listed in UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1979. Hindu devotees tend to believe that this is the abode of Lord Shiva himself. Next, we will be heading to another city Patan (second largest city) and Bhaktapur. Here we will be exploring the palaces, temples etc. The communities living in these cities are mostly from the Newari communities. Finally, we will visit the Boudhanath Stupa which is the largest spherical Stupa in Asia. Our short tour ends here and we get back to our respective destination.

Detail Itinerary

Day 01: Arrive in Kathmandu, Sightseeing: Kathmandu Durbar Square, Swoyambhu

Once you arrive at the airport, you will be welcomed by our representative from Accent Himalaya and drop you off at the hotel ( either five-star or three-star as per your wish). Today we will begin our tour by visiting two heritage sites of Kathmandu - the Kathmandu Durbar square and the Swayambhunath temple. Kathmandu Durbar square is also known as Basantapur Durbar square. Around this square, there are prehistoric places and temple and some of them were massively destructed by the earthquake of 2015. Surrounding this square, you get to observe ancient Newari arts and crafts.  Next, we will be exploring the Swambhunath temple - an ancient stupa at the top of the hill. This temple is also called as monkey temple as this temple is occupied by plenty of monkies. In the evening, Accent Himalaya will welcome you by hosting a welcome dinner in a fine Nepali restaurant which serves you delicious Nepali food - an introduction to the Nepali food culture.

Day 02: Visit Pashupatinath, Bhaktapur & Patan

Today on the second day after our breakfast, we will be exploring three UNESCO heritage sites in Kathmandu, Patan, and Bhaktapur. In Kathmandu, we will be visiting the Pashupatinath temple - the sacred temple of Lord Shiva. Next, we will explore Patan by visiting the Patan Durbar square - an ancient square and visit nearby temples. After that, we will be exploring Bhaktapur by visiting Bhaktapur square and some of the landmarks well known for ancients arts/ crafts and architectures.

Day 03: Visit Boudhnath & then Airport drop

After the breakfast, we will be visiting the Boudhanath stupa - the largest stupa in the world. Surrounding this stupa are thousands of prayer wheels and inside the Stupa area, there are more than 50 Gombas/monasteries where you can explore the Buddhist religion and culture. After that, our Accent Himalaya team will be dropping you at the airport three hours earlier than your flight schedule.
