In the Langtang region, trekking to this Tamang Heritage is newly added trekking route which has also been one of the popular trek spot located in the north of Kathmandu.
This trekking is one of the easy trekking trails in the Langtang region as being close to Kathmandu where one can easily reach without an airstrip. It is one of the interesting trekking to explore the ethnic people of the Langtang region - Tamang communities whose culture, traditions etc. are somewhat similar to Tibetan communities. This trekking trail was developed by the tourism board of Rural Poverty Alleviation Program as to elevate the poverty level of this region. Doing so, many travelers have been visiting this beautiful valley and slowly the standard of living of people here has been progressing.
On this Lamtang Tamang Heritage trek, you get to explore ethnic Tamang communities, get splendid views of the mountain ranges and visit many sacred lakes in this region - Gosaikunda, Bhairavkunda, Parvatikunda, and Dudhkunda. Besides these, we might also spot endangered wildlife like leopards, black bear, musk deer and even rare red panda on the trail.
Our actual trek begins at Syrabesi, 8-9 hours scenic drive from Kathmandu. From here, we are headed to the small village named Gatlang. Over here we get to capture the panoramic mountain views of Ganesh Himal (above 7000 m), Langtang Lirung (7240 m), Shispangma (8027 m) and several other peaks. From Gatlang, we descend down towards Tangbuche. Here we observe the Langtang and Ganesh Himal ranges. Further, we are headed towards Tatopani. We first reach hydropower dam and then to Tatopani which is a very famous natural hot spring. We can stop over here if you like!
And continuing our trekking further and visiting several monasteries on the trail, we reach Lama Hotel and then trek to the Langtang valley crossing several forests. On the trail, you get to observe the Mani walls which are scriptures in the Tibetan language with some prayers. You also get to see several Chortens as you get going. We then reach to Kyanjingomba beautifully surrounded by the mighty Himalayan mountains and astonishing Himalayan glaciers and Kyanjingomba has one of the biggest monasteries for us to explore. Retracing back, on the way we reach and interact with several Tamang communities to explore culture, traditions and enjoy their warm hospitality.
