langtang Gosaikunda Trek

Overview

The Langtang region has one of the best scenic locations to explore as compared to other destinations. The Gosaikunda Lake (4381m and 14371 ft) is one of the sacred lakes to the Hindus and Buddhists. They visit this place at least once a year mostly during the festival of Janai Purnima (full moon). This lake according to the Hindu mythology is home to Lord Shiva and his wife Gauri. Devotees wholeheartedly believe that taking a dip into this sacred lake wash away their sins and pain. People even say that they can see the reflection of Lord Shiva in the center of this lake.

Besides this stunning lake, you also get to view Langtang Mountain Ranges (5520 m – 7234 m), Dorjee Lhakpa (6966 m), Ganesh Himal (over 7000 m), Manaslu (8156 m) and many other peaks. The trekking to the Gosaikunda can be taken either from Dhunche or Syabrubesi. On the trail, we might also spot wild animals like boar, bear, and musk deer. This region is also home to red panda and we can spot it if lucky!

The trails will be very splendid at best as you also get to hear the chirruping of the birds with the surrounding of the beautiful mountain ranges. Additionally, this trek will offer you with the magnificent views of entire Langtang mountain range, Ganesh Himal, and numerous other peaks. Furthermore, you also get to explore the local culture of this region from Gurung, Magars, and Brahmins etc. but mainly the Tamang and Sherpa people with their warm hospitability.
