Everest Three Peaks Climbing: Pokalde, Island, and Lobuche East

Overview

This is one of the Adventurous climbing package designed for you to scale three well-known peaks in one expedition. You will be experiencing summit of - Pokalde Peak or simply Dolma Ri (5806 m), Lobuche East (6119 m) and the Island Peak (also known as Imja Tse) (6189 m).

Comparing these three peaks; Pokalde Peak is easy to summit whereas Lobuche East being a challenging one and Imja Tse (Island Peak) is graded at a moderate level which can even be attempted by beginners. Hence, we the team of Accent Himalaya have carefully designed this adventurous journey in one singular package where on the way we will be acclimatizing each other day for the successful accomplishment of summiting these well-known peaks of the Everest region.

As we land at Lukla, we follow the well-known Everest track via Namche, Tengboche, and Dingboche. The way to Pokalde Peak is by following through the usual track to Everest Base Camp which diverges from Dingboche. Trekking forward from the diverged path of Dingboche, we reach the base camp of Pokalde Peak and then after crossing the Kongma La pass (5535 m), we then reach high camp of the peak. Continuing trekking from the high camp through the rocky trails and track – ultimately we are rewarded with the magnificent views of the Pokalde Peak. From here, we also get an amazing sight of Mount Makalu, Ama Dablam, Pumori, and huge panorama views of the Khumbu region. Subsequently, after summiting the easy Pokalde Peak, we will be trekking to Chhukung for our next summit i.e. Island Peak.

With our continuous effort and dedication, we then reach the - Island Peak summit. From here, we will be mesmerized by the views of Lhotse, Nuptse, Baruntse, Ama Dablam and Makalu etc. After summiting the Island Peak, we drop down to Dingboche and we will be trekking up to Everest Base Camp and Kalapathar (from here we get the close view of the Everest) and head to the Lobuche East Peak. Next, we conquer the Lobuche East which is one of the extremely challenging peaks in the Everest region. After successful completion and relishing the views, we retrace our track back to Lukla through Namche and ultimately fly to Kathmandu.

The favorable time to this expedition is perfect on spring (mid-March to May) and autumn (mid-September to November). Detail Itinerary

Day 1: Arrival Kathmandu -1,350m/4,428ft

As you arrive at the Tribhuvan international airport and finishing all you airport formalities and looked for the signboard of the Accent Himalaya Company as you can easily spot as they will be carrying the huge signboard of the company and then they will greet you and take you to the respective hotel and then you can freshen up and rest for while. In the evening the company will be giving you a welcome dinner at the authentic Nepali restaurants which they will be serving you the Nepali cuisine and there will be short cultural dance program. We will be spending our night at the hotel.

Day 2: Kathmandu: Sightseeing and Preparation

Today we will be sightseeing the Kathmandu and after breakfast our guide will be taking you to the main heritage sites of the Kathmandu which is the ancient Kathmandu durbar square, Boudhanath stupa which is said to be the largest stupa of south Asia, next is Pashupatinath temple which is the Hindu temples the cremation sites of the Hindus and the last one is the Swambhunath temple which is also known as monkey temple. Then finishing sightseeing this main sites we will be visiting the office and our climbing expert will check all the climbing equipment and once again introduce with other fellow participants who will be joining you and our trekking leader we will be a briefing about the trips and if there is any inquiry you can ask it. We will be spending our night at the hotel.

Day 3: Kathmandu to Lukla [2,800 m/9,184 ft] to Phakding [2,652 m/8,700 ft]: 40 min flight; 3/4 hours trek

After the breakfast, we will be heading early morning to the airport. From Kathmandu to Lukla it takes almost 40 minutes to reach Lukla. It is a scenic flight where one gets to capture the scenic view of the Himalayas and then we will be landing at Hillary-Tenzing airport. And at the airport, we will be meeting our other crew members and then we will begin our trek through the affluent village of Lukla and then with awhile, we will reach Phakding. Then we will be acclimatizing the altitude and take rest but if you are not interested in staying idle we will be visiting the monastery nearby. We will be spending our night at Phakding.

Day 4: Phakding to Namche Bazaar [3,440 m/11,283 ft]: 5/6 hrs

After having our breakfast we will be trekking early morning. Today our trek are pleasant with trekking uphill and downhill and crossing the Dudh Koshi river several times and from the Benkar village, one gets to view the stunning view of mount Thamserku. Crossing several bridges we will reach Sagarmatha national park and here our trekking permits are checked in order to maintain the proceedings of the trekkers. A gradual descent of trekking we will reach jorsale. Further trekking we will reach the Hillary suspension bridge and then we will ascend uphill to the Namche bazaar to get the close view of Kwangde peak, Everest, Lhotse, Nuptse, Kusum Kanguru, Tawache and many other several peaks can be viewed. Trekking further we will be reaching at the Namche Bazaar which is the main gateway to the Everest region. We will be spending our night at Namche.

Day 5: Namche Bazaar [3,440 m/11,283 ft]: Acclimatization Day

Today we will be fully acclimatizing the altitude but the health expert advice that instead of staying idle one should be active all the time so we will be hiking either to Thame or explore the Namche bazaar it is the main center of the Khumbu region. If you like we can also visit the Sagarmatha national park headquarter and here we get to observe the history of the first ascender to the Mount Everest and the Sherpa culture and you will also get to learn different flora and fauna of the Khumbu region.  We can either hike to the Everest view hotel where one get to view the Mt. Everest in close. The Khumjung village is one of the beautiful villages where one get the stunning view of the Thamserku, Kongde and in this village, there is monastery where the well-known yeti scalp is kept then we will be visiting the Hillary school. After spending some time in the Khumjung we will have our lunch and then we will retrace back to Namche bazaar. We will be spending our night at Namche bazaar.

Day 6: Namche Bazaar to Tengboche [3,870m/12,694ft]: 5/6 hrs walk

After finishing having our breakfast we will continue our trek to the Tengboche to view the spectacular view of the Everest, Lhotse, Nuptse, Ama Dablam and Thamserku mountain at the close. As our trails follow up and down with the great view of the Himalayas. On the trail, you may also spot musk deer, pheasant, and the Himalayan that. Continuing trekking we will reach Sansa which is the main track junction to the Gokyo valley and the Everest base camp. We will be trekking through the dense pine forests and then we will be crossing the prayer flags garlanded in the bridge then we will be reaching at Phunki Thenga with few teahouses and small army posts amidst in the pine forests. We will lunch at Phunki and before reaching at the Tengboche the trial are bit tough as we will be climbing steep up through the pine forests and reaching the Tengboche we will get the close view of the Everest, Nuptse, Ama Dablam and then we will be visiting the Tengboche monastery which is said to be the largest monastery in the Khumbu region. The monastery opens at 3 p.m. and if we are lucky we will get to witness the rituals and religious ceremonies of the Buddhists. We will be spending our night at Tengboche.

Day 7: Tengboche to Dingboche [4,360 m/14,300 ft]: 5/6 hrs

At this Tengboche monastery, one gets the stunning view of the Himalayas in the morning so, we will be visiting this monastery even in the morning and spend some time taking best pictures of the Himalayas. We will then continue our trek as we will trek through the upper trials to get the better view as well as visit the Pangboche and the ancient monastery. We will be then passing through several villages, Chorten, and mani walls and then we will enjoy the lunch with the great view of the Ama Dablam. Then from here our trails becomes quite moderate and then we will be entering the Imja valley. The vale forward will commence to open up as we move toward the confluence of the Lobuche River; we move down into the river and start the final and steepest ascent of the day up to Dingboche- as we arrive at the Dingboche we will be enjoying the array of fields which is bounded by the stone walls to protect potato, buckwheat, barley from the protection of the cold winds and grazing animals.

Day 8: Dingboche [4,360 m/14,300 ft]: Acclimatization Day

Today we will be spending our day at Dingboche for the proper acclimatization.  Dingboche is the best spot for the acclimatization. While having the breakfast one can enjoy the view of Ama Dablam.  To get the better view of the Ama Dablam, Lhotse and several other peaks we will be ascending the north ridge which is behind the village. This will be a perfect acclimatize excursion. Leading this juncture we can observe three of the world six utmost peaks mount Lhotse, mount Makalu and mount Cho Yu. While we view to the northwest we can observe a range of peaks which rises above the Khumbu river valley. The Lobuche west and Lobuche east peaks are mainly dominant peaks alongside with Lhotse which is at the height of 8501meter. On the top of the high ridge, we can observe the Imja river valley additionally as the striking fields and the pasture of Dingboche. We will be spending our night at Dingboche.

Day 9: Dingboche to Pokalde Base Camp [4,900m/16,072ft]: 4/5 hrs

We will be trekking to the Pokalde base camp. We will be steeply climbing for 4-5 hours to reach the base camp. As we will be trekking for few hours as it will be perfect for the acclimatization. When we will reach the base camp we will be training you how to use the climbing gear. The Pokalde base camp lies near at the round lake in the center beneath the Kongma la pass. Beside the Pokalde base camp, you’ll get to view the Amadablam, Makalu, Nuptse and much more. We will be spending our night at Pokalade base camp.

Day 10: Pokalde Peak Base Camp to High Camp [5,400m/17712ft]: 4/5 hrs

First, the climbing trail will bring us to the kong mala pass where we get to pleasure the view of the broad basin spotted with the frozen lakes. Then continuing climbing we will be rewarded with an amazing view of Nuptse, Lhotse, Cholatse, Ama Dablam, Makalu and many more peaks of the Khumbu region. Then enjoying the stunning view we will reach the high camp. We will be spending our night at high camp.

Day 11: High Camp to Pokalde Peak Summit and Trek to Chhukung [4,730m/15,518ft]: 8/9 hrs

Today we will be summiting the peak as we will wake up early morning and scale the peak. Summiting the Pokalde peak we will get the breathtaking view of the highest mountain Everest including with Ama Dablam, Pumori, Makalu and many other several peaks of the Everest region. We will be spending some time celebrating for the successful of scaling the peak and then we will retrace back to kong ma la pass and then to Chhukung. We will choose the trails trough the rocky hill of the Chukung RI where we will get a striking view of the island peak, Ama Dablam, Lhotse, Makalu etc. we will be spending our night at the lodge of the Chhukung.

Day 12: Chhukung to Island Peak Base Camp [5,200m/17,060ft]: 3/4 hrs

The trail from the Chhukung leads a  trail ascending to the south and rotating east to the core line of the valley. We will take short trekking alongside the stream. The trail to the Amphu Labcha situated to the southeast. A criss- cross path leads through the Imja and Lhotse glacier moraines leading to the wide vale nearby the south-west side of Island peak.

Day 13: Island Peak Base Camp to Summit (6,189m/20,305ft), back to Base Camp [5,200m/17,060ft]]: 12/13 hrs

Today we will submit the island peak as we will be waking up early at 1 a.m. and then we will be having our breakfast and all set for scaling the peak. As we will be summiting the peak before the noon hours for the successful summit as in the noon time the winds blow strongly so it will get difficult for scaling the peak. Slowly and steadily we will be scaling the peak. Reaching the top of the peak we will celebrate and spend some time at the summit and capture the best pictures of the Himalayas. Then we will descend down to the island base camp.

Day 14: Island Peak Base Camp to Dingboche [4,360 m/14,300 ft]: 5/6 hrs

Today we will freshen up as well as clean the climbing gears.  Before leaving the base camp we will clean all the surroundings of the base camp and then we will retrace back to Dingboche. As today the trails will be relatively easy and within an hour we will reach Dingboche. We will be spending our night at Dingboche.

Day 15: Dingboche to Lobuche [4940 m/16,207 ft]: 5/6 hours

Today we will begin the day ascending to Duglha via the Khumbu river valley. Then we will trek steep trail to the Khumbu glacier. We come across our way through the boulder spread slope while we climb to Chupki Lara a creepy ridge top with remarkable mountains views. Then we will descend down to the Khumbu glacier and then you get the spectacular view of the Himalayas. We will be spending our night at Lobuche.

Day 16: Lobuche to Gorakshep to Everest Base Camp [5364 m/17,594 ft] to Gorak Shep [5170 m/16,961ft]: 6-7 hrs

We will be heading to the Everest base camp before that we will be crossing the Gorakshep Lake as the trails are a bit strenuous crossing the rocky dunes, streams, and moraines and even the air is thinner at the high altitude. As reaching the Everest base camp you can see plenty of colorful tents as in the spring season there will be lots of people attempting trekking as well as summit the peak. From the base camp one gets to view the Khumbutse, Pumori, Nuptse as the Everest Mountain is not visible from the base camp. Then we will be retracing back to Gorakshep. We will be spending our night at Gorakshep.

Day 17: Gorak Shep to Kala Patthar [5545 m/18,192 ft] to Lobuche [4940 m/16,207 ft]: 5/6 hrs

Early morning we will be heading to Kalapatthar as one should be well prepared as it will be extremely cold and the temperatures will be -10 to 14C. On the way, we will start getting to get the glimpse of familiar peaks which are Khumbutse, Lingtren, and even Everest mountain began to reveal. After several house of ascending we will finally reach Kalapatthar. From Kalapatthar you will get to view several peaks of the Khumbu region and the best part is that you will get the close view of the Everest. We will spend some time relishing the view as well as capturing the best pictures. We will retrace back to Lobuche. We will be spending our night at Lobuche.

Day 18: Lobuche to Lobuche East High Camp [5,400m/17,712 ft]: 4/5 hrs

Today we will be trekking to the Lobuche east high camp. For while trekking to the flat land the trails to Lobuche base camp gets rocky and steeper. We will be moving forward along to the Lobuche Glacier to view the great peaks which are Ama Dablam, Thamserku, Pokalde, Cholatse, Katanga and much more. From the base camp we will continue our trek through the rocky moraine and then we will reach the high camp. Reaching the high camp we will set our tent, have our lunch and then you can rest today as tomorrow we will be summiting the Lobuche peak.

Day 19: Lobuche High Camp to Lobuche summit [6119m/20,070 ft] and back to High Camp: 8/10 hrs

Early morning we will wake up at 2 and get ready for summiting the peak as before that we will be having a light breakfast then we will set to go. It is said that one gets the stunning view of the Everest, Lhotse, Nuptse, Cholatse, Ama Dablam, Pumori and more peaks can be the spot from the summit of the Lobuche peak. Reaching the top of the summit one can spend some time viewing the best view as well as clicking the best pictures and after that, we will retrace back to high camp.

Day 20: Reserve Day for Contingency

We are not sure that on the day of the summit we will get the favorable weather so, this extra day is kept for the unforeseen situation. If the weather is not favorable on the day of the summit then we have to skip and attempt it the next days and this day is for such situation. If none of any situation occurs then we can relax and enjoy the view of the Himalayas.

Day 21: Lobuche High Camp to Pangboche [3930m/12900 ft]: 6/7 hrs

After having our breakfast we will be trekking downhill from Lobuche base camp and then we will be trekking all the way to the route of Everest base camp and we will be having our lunch at Lobuche. After that we will retrace back to Pheriche on the trail to Pheriche we will be enjoying the stunning view of mount Ama Dablam and we will be continuing our trek to Pangboche on the way you will get to enjoy the view of the mountain which includes Kantenga, Pokalde and Thamserku and much more.  We will be trekking downhill to the dense forests of rhododendron and juniper forests. If you are attempting in the spring season you’ll get the beautiful pink and rhododendron flowers blooming all over. After that, you will reach Pangboche and then we will be visiting the Pangoboche monastery.

Day 22: Pangboche to Tengboche to Namche Bazaar [3,440 m/11,280 ft]: 5/6 hrs

We will be passing through prayer flags and then we will cross the Dudh Koshi River and then we will be trekking alongside the Dudh Koshi and we will descend through the pine forests and after that we will be reaching at Sansa on the way we will be relishing the view of Thamserku, Nuptse, and Ama Dablam and having our lunch we will be continuing our trek to Namche bazaar and then we will head to our lodge and then we will be taking a hot shower and relax in the lodge.

Day 23: Namche Bazaar to Lukla [2,800m/9,186ft]: 6/8 hrs

As we will descending down steeply through the rocky terrain and then we will be crossing the Dudh Koshi river through the suspension bridge and from here our trails become relatively easy as we will be trekking don to low altitude and on the way we will be all trekking through the pine and rhododendron forests. After that, we will come across the prayer flags and the Sherpa village and finally we will reach Lukla.

Day 24: Lukla to Kathmandu

Early morning we will be flying to Kathmandu through a scenic airstrip and landing at the Kathmandu our team will take you to the hotel and then you can take rest or freshen up or you can do some shopping to your loved ones. In the evening the company will be giving you a farewell dinner a well as celebrating for the successful of the peak expedition.

Day 25: Final Departure

Today your journey finally comes to an end as it is time to say goodbye and our team will be dropping you at the airport three hours earlier than your flight schedule and hope to see you soon for your next adventurous trip.
